The world of transportation is undergoing a significant shift towards sustainability. As demand for cleaner, more efficient modes of transportation grows, electric motorcycles have emerged as a promising alternative to their traditional gasoline-powered counterparts.
In fact, many performance-oriented concepts have made headlines in recent years. One of them is the Fuell Flow electric motorcycle , the most recent creation of Erik Burrell, best known for founding Buell Motorcycles.
Erik Buell announced Fuell, his new electric motorcycle company, in 2019 and said the company would soon begin work on its first electric motorcycle. But then the COVID-19 pandemic was declared and the motorcycle disappeared from public view. Now, a few years later, the Fuell Flow is finally available and the company has shared more details of the motorcycle.
According to the company, Fuell Fllow is “an urban e-commuter that captures the essence of freedom and innovation, fusing exhilarating performance, exceptional range and sustainable Special Data mobility into a single extraordinary, future-ready machine.”
This mid-size Flow electric scooter claims to have the luggage capacity and practicality of a full-size scooter, with 10 gallons of total storage and room for a passenger.
The Fuell Flow is powered by a patented electric wheel motor that generates an optimal power flow: a very high torque of 750 Nm (553 lb-ft). The motor comes in two power outputs: 47 hp continuous for the Flow-1S and 15 hp continuous for the entry-level Fllow-1. The 180 kg Flow electric motorcycle has a top speed of 140 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
With a high-capacity 10 kWh battery, the Flow electric motorcycle has 240 km of urban range on a full charge and a fast charging port to use existing stations. You can charge your Flow from 0 to 100% in less than 30 minutes. By recharging from 20 to 90%, the most common charging cycle can be done even faster, in less than 15 minutes.
Lightweight alloy castings, including a magnesium monocoque, make Flow exceptionally durable. Other features include a patent-pending advanced braking system, a front hydraulic disc brake with ABS and lowered rear brake pedal, integrating the braking mechanism directly into the rear wheel motor. This enables regenerative braking, generating power as you drive and charging your battery every time you slow down, allowing you to travel further on a single charge.
The Flow electric motorcycle control panel is connected to the driver's phone, in which an application offers all the practical information and functionalities, such as location, charge level, alarm, navigation and service of everything.
Additionally, Flow's electric propulsion system allows for significant savings on your daily commute. By Fuell's calculations, you can travel more than 150 miles at an average cost of just $2.
